Bush Regeneration
Bush Regeneration is an important and integral part of THECA's activities, seeking to improve our urban environment. THECA's bush regeneration programme is part of Brisbane City Council's Habitat Brisbane City-Wide programme. THECA has several components to this programme.
| THECA's first Bushcare
site is situated in the foothills of Mt. Coot-tha Forest Park (behind the
Chapel Crest bus stop, Fleming Road, Chapel Hill, through to the park off
Marmindie Street). The site follows the meanderings of a small unnamed creek
in the Cubberla Creek catchment. Dense lantana has been naturally replaced
by ferns and tree ferns along the gently flowing creek. The first working
bee was held in April 1995. |

Regular working bees are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 1 - 4 pm meeting at The Hut. It is a great way to learn how to restore a rainforest remnant, learn to recognise local weed species and become familiar with local native plant species and the principles of the Bradley method of Bush Regeneration.
| The Mother of Millions Club meets on the first Saturday of each month. The M of M Club is dedicated to the removal of this rampant weed (Bryophyllum spp). |
|
| The Hut Hilltopping Project has rehabilitated a hill top in the Mt Coot-tha Forest, which is significant in the life cycle, and in particular the mating, of many butterflies and other insects. |

THECA's Wandering Weeders meet on
Monday and Wednesday mornings. This group maps, monitors and removes weeds
in Mt Coot-tha Forest. Contact Phil on 3378 3763. |

THECA is a member of the Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network which brings
together all the environmental groups working in the catchments of Cubberla
Creek and Witton Creek. For further information on the Network:
